History
The foundation was established in 1971 when Prof. Giuseppe Fojanini donated his father Piero's estate to the Catholic University to create an experimental center for alpine agriculture in the Province of Sondrio.
Since the 1990s it has carried out genetic and sanitary selection of the Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) variety, registering clones in the national vine catalogue.
Its La Castellina farm bottles small quantities of Valtellina wine as part of the foundation's applied research.
