History
Giuseppe Sesti, born in Venice and previously the director of a Baroque opera festival and author of books on astronomy, discovered Montalcino with his English wife Sarah and in 1975 bought the ruined Castello di Argiano, a 13th-century castle south of the town.
He learned the wine trade first as a translator for local growers, and was inspired to plant his own vineyards in 1991. His study of astronomy and lunar cycles shapes his biodynamic approach.
The estate spans 102 hectares with nine under vine, producing Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino under the Castello di Argiano / Sesti label.
