History
Cafaggio's origins reach into the Middle Ages, with the first document naming the property dated 1408, when it was called 'Cahago'. Over the centuries it passed through Benedictine monks, the Niccolini family and the Florentine hospital of Santa Maria Nuova.
The modern estate dates to the late 1960s, when the Farkas family bought the run-down property, rebuilt the cellar and replanted the vineyards on Panzano's Conca d'Oro, one of the most prized corners of Chianti Classico.
Under the Villa Cafaggio label the estate makes Chianti Classico and a Riserva, the Cabernet Sauvignon Cortaccio and the Sangiovese San Martino, both Toscana IGT.
