History
Fattoria Le Poggette was started in the 1960s when Giorgio Lanzetta bought the estate in the hills of Montecastrilli, in the Amerini country of southern Umbria, and planted vines – bringing Montepulciano from his native Abruzzo alongside the local Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
From about eighteen hectares of vineyard on a 450-hectare property the family makes Colli Amerini reds and Umbria IGT bottlings, the Montepulciano-based 'Torre Maggiore' among them, plus varietal Canaiolo and Grechetto.
